Cruising on the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel

Post by tim-member » Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:45 am

The strong tides on the Severn enable large distances to be covered in a single tide. For example, starting from Oldbury on Severn, a couple of miles upstream from the first Severn Bridge it is possible to sail upstream for 10 or more nautical miles on the flood tide and return to the mooring on the ebb tide. A couple of pills (creeks) that are well worth visiting are Berkely Pill and Brims Pill and I've attached a couple of photos.
