I am contacting you in relation to DB427, Chaos.

My grandfather, David Nobes, has recently passed away, leaving behind his dayboat Chaos. Whilst she was a big part of our family, with three generations sailing her since acquiring her in 1988, due to work commitments and even the grandchildren growing up and moving away, nobody is able to take her on.

Unfortunately Chaos has been out of the water for approximately 10 years-leading to her requiring work which we are unable to do.

The boat sank on her mooring during a storm, causing damage to the hull. After being recovered the hull was fully repaired. However, due to a series of health issues, he was never able to relaunch her. This has led to the hull completely drying out, and it now not being in the best condition. We are unable to ‘flood’ Chaos to see if the hull requires further repair, or whether it is simply from the planks shrinking after drying out.

The boat is complete with:
-original oars (good condition)
-original sails (reasonable condition-not original sail bag)
-original mast and rigging (condition unknown)
-there are also some other small parts, such as buoyancy bags etc.
-currently on a road trailer for being towed behind a car (fair condition)

I was wondering if you could advise me on the best procedure for making sure she ends up with somebody who would maybe be interested in doing the required work, rather than her just sitting in my grandmother’s garage.

Thank you for any help you can provide on this matter
