I just thought I would try and kick off some discussion around the future of the Ladies Cup. At DB week, there was some feeling that this cup had outlived its purpose and that we no longer needed a cup for lady helms, particularly as most of the ‘serious’ lady helms choose not to participate in the race anyway.

Personally I feel there is still a place for the cup (and I’m not just saying that because I won it!). It’s a beautiful cup, and very clearly marked ‘Ladies Race’ so it would be a shame to relegate it completely. So how about a ‘ladies race’ where everyone who sails in it must be female (ie helm and crew)?
