I have sad news regarding DB253 Silver Cloud. I took the boat on with the intention of restoring her once I had done a full survey I discovered that at least 15 planks would need attention and there was rot in the keel between the Sampson post and centreboard case. I came to the conclusion that she was a rebuild job and certainly far more than a restoration. I offered her to YWDB members and the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis, but unfortunately no-one came forward. The mast, rigging and fittings however went to a YWDB member which was great so some bits will go on. The hull has now gone to Athelhampton House near Dorchester where she will become a pair of seats and will be installed on the raised riverside walk in their beautiful gardens. Maybe the register of boats could be updated. |
